1 Υπάρχει αυξανόμενη ανησυχία ότι ο μαζικός τουρισμός επηρεάζει αρνητικά τον μοναδικό χαρακτήρα και το περιβάλλον του νησιού μας, τα οποία είναι ζωτικής σημασίας για τη συνέχιση της προσέλκυσης επισκεπτών και τη διατήρηση της ποιότητας ζωής των κατοίκων.
Εσείς ως Δήμαρχος, πώς σκοπεύετε να αντιμετωπίσετε την ισορροπία μεταξύ των οφελών του τουρισμού και της διατήρησης του χαρακτήρα και του περιβάλλοντος του νησιού για τους μελλοντικούς επισκέπτες και τους κατοίκους;

Καταρχάς να σας ευχαριστήσουμε για την πρωτοβουλία σας να τεθούν αντιπαραθετικά έστω αυτά τα 3 –πολύ βασικά ωστόσο- ερωτήματα στους 3 επικεφαλής των συνδυασμών που διεκδικούν σήμερα το τιμόνι του νησιού μας. Είναι πολύ σημαντικό οι δημότες να μπορούν πριν τις εκλογές να συγκρίνουν προγράμματα και θέσεις που αφορούν το παρόν και το μέλλον του τόπου προκειμένου τελικά να προχωρήσουν σε μια ενημερωμένη επιλογή την Κυριακή των εκλογών. Εμείς επανειλημμένα επιδιώξαμε ένα δημόσιο διάλογο μεταξύ των επικεφαλής των συνδυασμών, δίχως ωστόσο να υπάρξει ανάλογη πρόθεση ή προθυμία από τους άλλους συνδυασμούς. Ελπίζουμε να υπάρξει ανταπόκριση τουλάχιστον στα ερωτήματα που θέσατε. Ας έρθουμε λοιπόν σε αυτά.

Πράγματι υπάρχει διάχυτη ανησυχία και προβληματισμός για όλα αυτά που θέσατε ως ζητήματα. Ο τουρισμός αποτελεί αναμφίβολα τη βασική πηγή εισοδήματος για το νησί μας. Όμως ο τρόπος με τον οποίο συντελείται βαίνει αρνητικά προς το περιβάλλον, την ιδιαίτερη φυσιογνωμία του, την ποιότητα ζωής των κατοίκων του, όπως, εν τέλει, και των επισκεπτών του, αλλοιώνοντας και καταστρέφοντας αυτό το οποίο και εκείνοι γνώρισαν και αγάπησαν.

Αυτό συμβαίνει γιατί, σταδιακά, έχουν αρχίσει να κυριαρχούν στον τουρισμό –και κατά προέκταση στην οικονομία του νησιού- μεγάλα επιχειρηματικά συμφέροντα, που δεν νοιάζονται για τον ίδιο τον τόπο. Για εκείνους, η Πάρος δεν είναι παρά ένα προϊόν, το οποίο επιδιώκουν να εκμεταλλευτούν με κάθε τρόπο, αδιαφορώντας για τη μεσοπρόθεσμη ή μακροπρόθεσμη απαξίωσή του. Αυτό άλλωστε το έχουμε δει να συμβαίνει και σε πολλά άλλα μέρη ανά την Ελλάδα και ανά τον κόσμο: «επενδυτές» να επελαύνουν όπου μυρίζονται υπερκέρδη και μετά να εξαφανίζονται μεταφέροντας τις δουλειές τους στην επόμενη ευκαιρία αφήνοντας τους τόπους απ’ όπου περνούν ρημαγμένους. Εμείς όμως, που, ούτε μπορούμε αλλά ούτε και θέλουμε να φύγουμε από τον τόπο μας, τι θα κάνουμε; Θα κάτσουμε με σταυρωμένα χέρια να παρακολουθούμε απαθείς το έγκλημα που συντελείται μπροστά στα μάτια μας; Ή θα κάνουμε κάτι για αυτό; Και στις εκλογές της 8ης του Οκτώβρη έχουμε μια μοναδική ευκαιρία να πάρουμε το τιμόνι του τόπου στα χέρια μας και –Δήμος και δημότες μαζί- να διεκδικήσουμε τον τόπο μας πίσω.

Εμείς ως δημοτική αρχή, σε αντίθεση με τη μέχρι τώρα λογική του «πάμε κι’ όπου βγει» θα σχεδιάσουμε, θα οργανώσουμε και θα γίνουμε αρωγοί ενός διαφορετικού μοντέλου ανάπτυξης στον τουρισμό και γενικότερα την οικονομία του νησιού. Επιγραμματικά:

  • Θα διαβουλευτούμε, θα σχεδιάσουμε και θα εντάξουμε σε αυτή την προσπάθεια όλους τους εμπλεκομένους στην οικονομία του νησιού, τους συλλογικούς φορείς, τις κοινότητες, τους επαγγελματίες, κλπ. Έτσι ώστε από κοινού και έχοντας μελετήσει τη φέρουσα ικανότητα του νησιού (πόσους μπορεί να φιλοξενεί και με τι απαιτούμενες υποδομές) να αποφασίσουμε και να φέρουμε εις πέρας έναν ισορροπημένο τρόπο ανάπτυξης.
  • Έναν τρόπο ανάπτυξης, που θα λειτουργεί ως καταλύτης ενθάρρυνσης και περαιτέρω ανάπτυξης των πολλαπλών δυνατοτήτων και πλεονεκτημάτων που έχει το νησί και οι άνθρωποί του, ενώ ταυτόχρονα, θα αντιμετωπίζει ενεργά και θετικά τα προβλήματα που συνεχώς διογκώνονται τα τελευταία χρόνια.
  • Θα προωθήσουμε μια πιο ισόρροπη ανάπτυξη στους τομείς της οικονομίας του νησιού μας, στηρίζοντας τον πρωτογενή τομέα, την αλιεία, αλλά και τους ανθρώπους των Γραμμάτων και των Τεχνών, φροντίζοντας να προσφέρονται πολλαπλοί διέξοδοι και δίοδοι σταδιοδρομίας στις νέες γενιές που σήμερα βρίσκονται εγκλωβισμένες στη «μονοκαλλιέργεια» του τουρισμού.
  • Θα δώσουμε προτεραιότητα στην ποιότητα της καθημερινότητας, στα δήθεν «μικρά» που τελικά είναι μεγάλα, όπως π.χ. την καθαριότητα, τις βασικές υποδομές, το κυκλοφοριακό, κλπ.: όλα εκείνα δηλαδή που κάνουν πιο εύκολη και τελικά πιο ποιοτική την καθημερινή μας διαβίωση στο νησί (και όχι μόνο τη δική μας, αλλά και των επισκεπτών).

2 Οι τουριστικοί προορισμοί συχνά ανθούν διαφοροποιώντας τις προσφορές τους. Η Πάρος καμαρώνει για την πλούσια κληρονομιά της, περιλαμβάνοντας ιστορικούς τόπους, περιπατητικά μονοπάτια, τοπικά κρασιά και αγροτικά προϊόντα, πανηγύρια, τα οποία έχουν τη δυνατότητα να προσελκύσουν υπεύθυνους και πολιτισμικά ενδιαφερόμενους επισκέπτες.
Εσείς ως Δήμαρχος, ποιες συγκεκριμένες ενέργειες προτίθεστε να λάβετε για να ενισχύσουμε και να προωθήσουμε αυτές τις προσφορές κληρονομιάς για να προσελκύσουμε έναν πιο συνειδητοποιημένο τύπο τουρίστα, διασφαλίζοντας την βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη της Πάρου;

Επιτρέψτε να ξεκινήσω επισημαίνοντας πως εμείς δεν διαχωρίζουμε, δεν βλέπουμε χωριστά, όλα αυτά που το νησί μας έχει να προσφέρει στους επισκέπτες από εκείνα που έχει να προσφέρει στους ντόπιους. Γιατί, όλα αυτά που αναφέρατε, πρέπει να αναπτύσσονται για όλους μας και να απολαμβάνονται από όλους μας. Στη δική μας τη λογική, δεν αναπτύσσουμε π.χ. την πολιτιστική μας κληρονομιά για να την πουλήσουμε κατόπιν ως «σουβενίρ». Διαμορφώνουμε τους χώρους και τους τρόπους να ανθίσει, τη ζυμώνουμε και την κοινωνούμε στις νέες γενιές, δίνουμε δυνατότητες έκφρασης και δημιουργίας σε παλιούς και νέους καλλιτέχνες κλπ., και αυτό, με τη σειρά του, να είστε σίγουροι, ότι θα εκτιμηθεί και θα αγαπηθεί και από τους επισκέπτες.

Ξέρετε, ο επισκέπτης διαισθάνεται και εν τέλει απορρίπτει το ψεύτικο, το επιφανειακό. Εκτιμά το γνήσιο, το αυθεντικό, το πραγματικά αντιπροσωπευτικό ενός τόπου και ενός λαού που έρχεται να γνωρίσει. Τι μπορούμε λοιπόν να κάνουμε ως προς αυτό; Πολλά μπορούν –και πρέπει- να γίνουν είναι η αλήθεια:

  • Καταρχάς, χρειάζονται οι ανάλογες δομές, στεγασμένοι χώροι εκθέσεων και εκδηλώσεων. Πολιτιστικές δομές ανοιχτές, που θα αποτελούν ζωντανά κύτταρα της τοπικής κοινωνίας. Που σε συνεργασία με τους φορείς και τους συλλόγους θα μπορούν να λειτουργούν ως σημεία αναφοράς της πολιτιστικής ζωής του νησιού, σχεδιάζοντας, οργανώνοντας και φιλοξενώντας εκατοντάδες μικρότερες ή μεγαλύτερες δραστηριότητες. Ο δήμος από τη μεριά του, μπορεί και πρέπει, όχι μόνο να αξιοποιήσει ως προς τα παραπάνω τις υπάρχουσες δομές που διαθέτει, αλλά να αναζητήσει κι’ άλλες.
  • Ο Δήμος επίσης μπορεί και πρέπει να μεριμνήσει και να επιμεληθεί της στενότερης σύνδεσης των σχολείων με τα μουσεία του τόπου μας, τους αρχαιολογικούς χώρους, τις βιβλιοθήκες, τους χώρους που σήμερα παράγεται ακόμα λαϊκή τέχνη και τους συμπολίτες μας που την υπηρετούν. Έτσι ώστε τα Παριανόπουλα, οι επόμενες γενεές του νησιού μας, να έρθουν πιο κοντά, να γνωριστούν και να ζυμωθούν δημιουργικά με την ιστορία του τόπου τους, τις παραδόσεις, τις τέχνες του. Να ξανα-ανακαλύψουν και να αγαπήσουν το βιβλίο, τη δίψα για γνώση, για μόρφωση.
  • Τέλος ο Δήμος μπορεί και πρέπει να λειτουργεί, τόσο ως αρωγός, όσο και ως σημείο αναφοράς και σύνδεσης των ανθρώπων των Γραμμάτων και των Τεχνών με τους πολίτες. Η ανάδειξη και καλλιέργεια του πολιτισμού στο νησί μας δεν μπορεί να γίνεται χωρίς τους πολλούς και αξιόλογους ανθρώπους των Γραμμάτων και των Τεχνών, που ενώ έχουμε την τεράστια τύχη να ζουν μαζί μας, πολύ σπάνια τους γνωρίζουμε, πόσω μάλλον τους αξιοποιούμε. Πολιτισμός όμως, χωρίς τους ανθρώπους του πολιτισμού δεν γίνεται. Πολιτισμός, λοιπόν, μαζί με τους ανθρώπους του πολιτισμού. Πολιτισμός για όλους, πολιτισμός παντού!

Ανάμεσα σε αυτά που περιλαμβάνονται στο πρόγραμμά μας είναι:

  • Η προστασία και ανάδειξη των αρχαίων λατομείων. Η δημιουργία αρχαιολογικού πάρκου στην περιοχή με την αξιοποίηση των βιομηχανικών κτιρίων του Μαραθίου.
  • Η προστασία και περαιτέρω ανάδειξη του Περιβαντολογικού Πάρκου στον Αη Ιωάννη Δέτη.
  • Η ανάδειξη και αξιοποίηση του Αγροκηπίου της Παροικιάς ως χώρος πρασίνου, αναψυχής και βιωματικό πάρκο.
  • Η δημιουργία πολιτιστικών διαδρομών σε κάθε χωριό του νησιού μας, ώστε με μόνιμο τρόπο να αναδεικνύεται η διαχρονική πολιτισμική διαδρομή του καθενός.
  • Η στήριξη των πρωτοβουλιών ανάδειξης του πολιτισμού και της ιστορίας του τόπου μας, όπως είναι οι Διαδρομές στη Μάρπησσα, το Paros Festival και άλλα.
  • Η περαιτέρω αξιοποίηση των μονοπατιών του νησιού μας και ανάδειξή τους.

Και άλλα πολλά!

3 Έχει ανάγκη να σωθεί η Πάρος;
Αν ναι, από τι πρέπει να σωθεί;

Το νησί μας, πράγματι, βρίσκεται αυτή τη στιγμή σε ένα κρίσιμο σταυροδρόμι. Και οι εκλογές της 8ης Οκτώβρη θα είναι καθοριστικές για το ποιο δρόμο θα πάρει, για το ποιο θα είναι το μέλλον του.

Δεν έχουμε την πολυτέλεια να χάσουμε άλλο χρόνο, να χάσουμε αλλά 5 χρόνια, γιατί τότε πια μπορεί να είναι πολύ αργά. Πράγματι, ο καταστροφικός τρόπος με τον οποίο συντελείται η τουριστική ανάπτυξη στο νησί, οι τρομακτικές συνέπειες της επέλασης των μεγάλων οικονομικών συμφερόντων στον χαρακτήρα της κοινωνίας και της οικονομίας μας, η συνεχιζόμενη υποβάθμιση της ποιότητας ζωής και της καθημερινότητας κατοίκων, εργαζομένων και επισκεπτών, η καταπάτηση των ελεύθερων χώρων, οι ελλιπείς ή απαρχαιωμένες υποδομές και υπηρεσίες, κλπ.: Σε όλα αυτά δεν χωρούν άλλες αναβολές, ούτε αντιμετωπίζονται με ευχολόγια.

Αυτή τη στιγμή, λοιπόν, έχουμε ενόψει των επερχόμενων εκλογών 3 δημοτικούς συνδυασμούς που διεκδικούν το τιμόνι του τόπου μας. Επί της ουσίας, όμως, οι δρόμοι που προτάσσονται –οι επιλογές για τον Παριανό λαό- είναι δύο:

Ή να συνεχίσουμε στην ίδια λίγο-πολύ πορεία, είτε με τον κ. Κωβαίο είτε με τον κ. Μπιζά, προσπαθώντας με μικρομπαλώματα να σώζεται ό,τι αν σώζεται.

Ή να πάρουμε το τιμόνι του τόπου μας στα χέρια μας και να αλλάξουμε πορεία, με τη λαϊκή Συσπείρωση. Για μια δημοτική αρχή που θα στέκεται συμπαραστάτης στις αγωνίες των Παριανών και πρωταγωνιστής στη λύση των ζητημάτων τους. Που δεν θα είναι ούτε απούσα ούτε απέναντί του. Που θα σχεδιάζει και θα αποφασίζει μαζί με τον Παριανό λαό, τους φορείς του, τους συλλόγους του, τους εκπροσώπους των κοινοτήτων, τις κινήσεις πολιτών, όχι ερήμην τους.

Αν δεν σώσουμε εμείς όλοι το νησί μας, τον τόπο μας, τότε ποιός;

Γι’ αυτό καλούμε κάθε Παριανή και Παριανό, από κάθε μετερίζι της ζωής, να διεκδικήσουμε και να οικοδομήσουμε μαζί μια δημοτική αρχή που θα λειτουργεί, θα σχεδιάζει και θα δρα για τις ανάγκες των πολλών και όχι τα συμφέροντα των λίγων.

Καλούμε όλους όσους συμμερίζονται την πεποίθησή μας ότι η Πάρος έχει πολλές δυνατότητες που μένουν αναξιοποίητες και πως η ποιότητα ζωής μας είναι αναντίστοιχη των δυνατοτήτων αυτών, να ενώσουν τη φωνή τους μαζί μας και να παλέψουμε για μια ζωή που μας αξίζει.

Καλούμε τους πάντες να υπερβούμε τις όποιες δυσκολίες του παρελθόντος και ανεξάρτητα από πολιτικές πεποιθήσεις, συγγενικούς δεσμούς ή προσωπικές συμπάθειες και φιλίες, να επιλέξουμε το μεγαλύτερο καλό για τον τόπο μας και το μέλλον του.

Γιατί, τελικά, όπως «μετά το ταμείον ουδέν σφάλμα αναγνωρίζεται», έτσι και μετά την κάλπη θα πρέπει να ζήσουμε με το αποτέλεσμα των επιλογών μας. Και εδώ, πράγματι, διακυβεύεται το μέλλον του νησιού μας. Ας κάνουμε λοιπόν την καλύτερη επιλογή για αυτό!

1 There is growing concern that mass tourism is adversely affecting the unique character and environment of our island, which are vital to continue to attract visitors and maintain the quality of life of our residents.
How do you, as Mayor, intend to address the balance between the benefits of tourism and preserving the character and environment of the island for future visitors and residents?

I really appreciate the fact that you have taken the initiative to ask three questions, basic it's true, yet extremely important, to the leaders of the three political groups currently competing for a seat in our island's governance. It is imperative that citizens have the opportunity to compare the programs and positions of each alliance before making an informed decision on election day. Despite our repeated attempts to initiate a public dialogue with the other alliances, they have shown no interest or willingness to engage in such a conversation. I hope that the questions you have asked will receive a response from each of them.

There is indeed widespread concern and anxiety about all the issues you have raised. Tourism is undoubtedly the main source of income for our island. However, the way in which it is carried out is detrimental to the environment, to its special character, to the quality of life of its inhabitants and, ultimately, of its visitors, changing and destroying what they know and love.

This is because tourism, and with it the island's economy, has gradually come to be dominated by big business interests that do not care about the island itself. For them, Paros is nothing more than a product to be exploited in every possible way, regardless of its medium or long-term depreciation. This is what we have seen in many other places in Greece and around the world: "investors" swoop in where they smell excess profits and then disappear, moving their business to the next opportunity, leaving the places they pass devastated. But we, who cannot and do not want to leave our home, what are we going to do? Are we going to sit back and watch the crime unfold before our eyes? Or are we going to do something about it? In the elections on 8 October, we have a unique opportunity to take control of our homeland and - together, municipality and citizens - take our territory back.

As a local authority, we are going to plan, organise and promote a different model of development for tourism and the island's economy in general, as opposed to the logic of "let's go wherever it goes". In short:

  • We will consult with all stakeholders in the island's economy, including collective bodies, communities, and professionals, to determine what a balanced development model for the island looks like. We will take into account the carrying capacity of the island, which means the number of people it can accommodate and the infrastructure required to support them.
  • We will develop a tourism model that encourages and leverages the island's unique potential and advantages, while addressing the problems that have been plaguing us for years.
  • We will support a more balanced development in all sectors of the island's economy, not just tourism. This includes supporting the primary sector, fisheries, and the arts and letters to ensure that the younger generation has multiple career paths to choose from.
  • We will prioritize the quality of life on the island, including basic infrastructure, cleanliness, and traffic. These seemingly "small" issues are actually very significant and make a big difference in our daily lives and the lives of visitors.

2 Tourist destinations often flourish by diversifying their offerings. Paros prides itself on its rich heritage, including historic sites, walking trails, local wines and agricultural products, festivals, which have the potential to attract responsible and culturally interested visitors.
As Mayor, what specific actions do you intend to take to enhance and promote these heritage offerings to attract a more conscious type of tourist, ensuring the sustainable development of Paros?

First of all, I would like to point out that we do not separate what our island has to offer to visitors from what it has to offer to locals. In fact, everything you have mentioned must be developed for all of us and enjoyed by all of us. In our logic, we do not develop our cultural heritage in order to sell it as a "souvenir". We create the spaces and ways for it to flourish, we ferment it and pass it on to new generations, we give opportunities for expression and creativity to old and young artists, etc., and this in turn, you can be sure, will be appreciated and loved by visitors.

You see, the visitor senses and ultimately rejects the false, the superficial. They appreciate the real, the authentic, the truly representative of a place and a people they are getting to know. So what can we do? Much can - and must - be done:

  • First of all, we need appropriate structures, indoor exhibition and event spaces. Cultural structures that are open and accessible, that are living cells of local society. Open and vibrant cultural centres that can act as reference points for the island's cultural life, planning, organising and hosting hundreds of activities, large and small. The municipality, for its part, can and should not only make use of existing structures, but also look for new ones.
  • The municipality can and should also ensure a closer link between the schools and the museums of our island, the archaeological sites, the libraries, the places where folk art is still produced today and our fellow citizens who serve it. So that the children of Paros, the next generations of our island, can get to know the history of their place, its traditions, its arts, and learn about them in a creative way. To rediscover and love books, the thirst for knowledge, for education.
  • It is essential that the City Council plays a role as an aid, point of reference, and connection between the artistic and literary community and the citizens. The promotion and support of culture on our island cannot be achieved without the numerous talented individuals in the fields of literature and art who live among us, but whom we seldom know or engage with. Culture is the result of the people of culture. Therefore, culture and its people go hand in hand. Let's strive to create a culture that is accessible to everyone, everywhere!

Our programme includes:

  • The protection and promotion of the ancient quarries. The creation of an archaeological park in the area with the use of the industrial buildings of Marathi.
  • The protection and further promotion of the Environmental Park at Agios Ioannis Detis.
  • The promotion and development of the Parikia Agrokipio as a green space, recreational area and experiential park.
  • The creation of cultural routes in every village of our island, so that the timeless cultural route of each village is highlighted in a permanent way.
  • Support for initiatives to promote the culture and history of our island, such as the Routes in Marpissa, the Paros Festival and others.
  • Further development of our island's walking paths and their promotion.

3 Does Paros need to be saved?
If so, what does it need to be saved from?

Our island is currently at a crucial crossroads, and the upcoming elections on 8th October will significantly influence its future path.

We cannot afford to waste any more time and must take action now because delaying for another five years may be too late. The current manner in which tourism development is progressing on the island, the negative impact of big economic interests on our society and economy, the declining quality of life for residents, workers, and visitors, and the reduction of open spaces and outdated infrastructure and services - all of these issues need immediate attention and must not be treated with wishful thinking.

Three municipal combinations are competing for the helm of our place in the forthcoming elections. In essence, however, the preferred paths - the options for the Parian people - are two:. We can either continue on the same course, either with Mr. Kovaios or with Mr. Bizas, trying to save whatever is left.

Alternatively, we can take the helm of our place in our own hands and change course with the “Popular Rally” (Laïki Syspirosi). We need a municipal authority that will support the struggles of the Parians and will be an active participant in solving their issues. The authority must plan and decide together with the Parian people, their institutions, associations, community representatives, and citizens' movements, not in their absence.

If we fail to save our island and land, then who will? Therefore, we call on every Parian, regardless of their background, to claim and build a municipal authority that will work, plan, and act for the needs of the many, not the interests of the few.

We urge everyone who shares our belief that Paros has untapped potentials to join us and fight for the life we deserve. We must overcome past difficulties, political beliefs, family ties, or personal sympathies and friendships, and choose the greater good for our land and its future.

After the ballot box, we will have to live with the outcome of our choices. The future of our island is at stake, so let us make the best choice!

Il est impératif que les citoyens aient la possibilité de comparer les programmes et les positions de chaque alliance avant de prendre une décision éclairée le jour de l'élection. Malgré nos tentatives répétées d'engager un dialogue public avec les autres alliances, celles-ci n'ont manifesté aucun intérêt ni aucune volonté de s'engager dans une telle conversation. J'espère que les questions que vous avez posées recevront une réponse de chacune d'entre elles.

Abordons maintenant les questions qui nous occupent. Toutes les questions que vous avez soulevées, et en particulier le tourisme, suscitent de vives inquiétudes. Bien que le tourisme soit la principale source de revenus de notre île, la manière dont il est actuellement pratiqué nuit à l'environnement, au caractère unique de l'île, à la qualité de vie de ses habitants et, en fin de compte, aux visiteurs eux-mêmes. Cela est dû à la domination croissante de grands intérêts entrepreneuriaux qui ne se soucient pas du bien-être de l'île. Pour eux, Paros n'est rien d'autre qu'un produit à exploiter au maximum, sans se soucier des conséquences à long terme. Malheureusement, il s'agit d'un problème commun à de nombreux autres endroits dans le monde où les investisseurs viennent, font des profits, puis s'en vont, laissant les endroits qu'ils traversent dévastés.

En tant que résidents de cette île, nous ne pouvons pas et ne voulons pas rester les bras croisés face à cette situation. Les élections du 8 octobre prochain nous offrent une occasion unique de prendre le contrôle de notre lieu de vie et de travailler ensemble à la création d'un avenir meilleur pour notre île. En tant qu'autorité municipale, nous allons planifier et promouvoir un modèle différent de développement touristique et économique. Voici ce que nous avons prévu :

  • Nous consulterons tous les acteurs de l'économie de l'île, y compris les collectivités, les communautés et les professionnels, afin de déterminer ce qu'est un modèle de développement équilibré pour l'île. Nous tiendrons compte de la capacité de charge de l'île, c'est-à-dire du nombre de personnes qu'elle peut accueillir et des infrastructures nécessaires pour les soutenir.
  • Nous développerons un modèle touristique qui encourage et exploite le potentiel et les avantages uniques de l'île, tout en s'attaquant aux problèmes qui nous affligent depuis des années.
  • Nous soutiendrons un développement plus équilibré dans tous les secteurs de l'économie de l'île, et pas seulement dans le tourisme. Il s'agit notamment de soutenir le secteur primaire, la pêche, les arts et les lettres afin de garantir que la jeune génération dispose de plusieurs choix de carrière.
  • Nous donnerons la priorité à la qualité de vie sur l'île, notamment aux infrastructures de base, à la propreté et à la circulation. Ces questions apparemment "mineures" sont en fait très importantes et font une grande différence dans notre vie quotidienne et celle des visiteurs.

2 Les destinations touristiques prospèrent souvent en diversifiant leurs offres. Paros est fière de son riche patrimoine, qui comprend des sites historiques, des sentiers de randonnée, des vins locaux et des produits agricoles, des festivals, qui ont le potentiel d'attirer des visiteurs responsables et intéressés par la culture.
En tant que maire, quelles actions spécifiques avez-vous l'intention de prendre pour améliorer et promouvoir ces offres patrimoniales afin d'attirer un type de touriste plus conscient, assurant ainsi le développement durable de Paros ?

Il est important de noter que nous ne devrions pas séparer les choses que notre île offre aux visiteurs et aux habitants. Toutes les choses qui ont été mentionnées devraient être développées et appréciées par tout le monde. Nous ne devons pas développer et exploiter notre patrimoine culturel pour le vendre comme "souvenir". Au contraire, nous devrions le cultiver et le communiquer aux générations futures, offrir aux artistes, jeunes et moins jeunes, la possibilité de s'exprimer et d'être créatifs, et créer des espaces pour qu'il s'épanouisse. Ce faisant, nous pouvons être sûrs que les visiteurs l'apprécieront et l'aimeront, car ils peuvent sentir et rejeter ce qui n'est pas authentique. Que pouvons-nous faire pour y parvenir ? Beaucoup de choses peuvent - et doivent - être faites :

  • Construire des structures appropriées, des espaces d'exposition et d'événements couverts, qui soient des cellules vivantes de la société locale et ouvertes à tous. Ces centres culturels doivent être ouverts, dynamiques et servir de points de référence pour la vie culturelle de l'île, en planifiant, en organisant et en accueillant des centaines d'activités plus ou moins importantes. La municipalité peut utiliser les structures existantes et en chercher de nouvelles pour y parvenir.
  • Assurer un lien plus étroit entre les écoles et les musées, les sites archéologiques, les bibliothèques et les autres lieux de production d'art populaire. De cette façon, la prochaine génération d'enfants de Paros pourra découvrir l'histoire de leur lieu de vie, ses traditions et ses arts. La municipalité doit aider et agir comme un point de référence et de connexion entre les gens de lettres et d'arts et les citoyens, car la culture ne peut exister sans les gens qui la cultivent.
  • Promouvoir et cultiver la culture sur notre île ne peut se faire sans les nombreuses et remarquables personnes de lettres et d'arts qui, bien que nous ayons la chance de les avoir parmi nous, nous les connaissons et les utilisons rarement. La culture doit donc être créée avec les hommes et les femmes de culture. La culture pour tous, la culture partout !

D'autres initiatives sont incluses dans notre programme :

  • Protéger et promouvoir les anciennes carrières de marbre, créer un parc archéologique dans la région et développer les bâtiments industriels de Marathi.
  • Protection et amélioration du parc environnemental d'Agios Ioannis Detis.
  • Promouvoir et développer l’Agrokipio de Parikia en tant qu'espace vert, zone de loisirs et parc expérimental.
  • Créer des itinéraires culturels dans chaque village de notre île, en mettant en valeur de manière permanente l'itinéraire culturel intemporel de chaque village.
  • Soutenir les initiatives visant à promouvoir la culture et l'histoire de notre île, telles que les Routes de Marpissa, le Festival de Paros, etc.
  • Développer les sentiers pédestres de l'île et les promouvoir.

3 Paros doit-elle être sauvée ?

Notre île se trouve actuellement à un carrefour crucial, et les prochaines élections du 8 octobre influenceront considérablement sa trajectoire future.

Nous ne pouvons plus nous permettre de perdre du temps et nous devons agir maintenant, car si nous attendons encore cinq ans, il sera peut-être trop tard. La manière dont le développement touristique progresse actuellement sur l'île, l'impact négatif des grands intérêts économiques sur notre société et notre économie, la baisse de la qualité de vie des résidents, des travailleurs et des visiteurs, la réduction des espaces ouverts et l'obsolescence des infrastructures et des services - toutes ces questions requièrent une attention immédiate et ne doivent pas être traitées avec des vœux pieux.

Trois partis municipaux se disputent la direction de notre ile lors des prochaines élections. Cependant, le peuple Parien n'a le choix qu'entre deux voies. Nous pouvons soit continuer sur la même voie, soit avec M. Kovaios, soit avec M. Bizas, en essayant de sauver ce qui reste. Ou bien nous pouvons prendre en main la direction de notre ile et changer de cap avec le "Rassemblement populaire" (Laïki Syspirosi). Nous avons besoin d'une autorité municipale qui soutienne les luttes des Pariens et participe activement à la résolution de leurs problèmes. L'autorité doit planifier et décider avec le peuple Parien, ses institutions, ses associations, ses représentants communautaires et ses mouvements citoyens, et non pas en leur absence.

Si nous ne parvenons pas à sauver notre île et notre terre, qui le fera ? C'est pourquoi nous appelons tous les Pariens, quelle que soit leur origine, à revendiquer et à construire une autorité municipale qui travaillera, planifiera et agira pour les besoins du plus grand nombre, et non pour les intérêts de quelques-uns.

Nous exhortons tous ceux qui partagent notre conviction que Paros possède un potentiel inexploité à nous rejoindre et à se battre pour la vie que nous méritons. Nous devons surmonter les difficultés du passé, les convictions politiques, les liens familiaux, les sympathies et les amitiés personnelles, et choisir le plus grand bien pour notre terre et son avenir.

Ich weiß es wirklich zu schätzen, dass Sie die Initiative ergriffen haben, um den Führern der drei politischen Gruppierungen, die derzeit um einen Sitz in der Regierung unserer Insel konkurrieren, drei Fragen zu stellen, die zwar grundlegend sind, aber dennoch äußerst wichtig. Die Bürgerinnen und Bürger müssen unbedingt die Möglichkeit haben, die Programme und Positionen der einzelnen Bündnisse zu vergleichen, bevor sie am Wahltag eine fundierte Entscheidung treffen. Trotz unserer wiederholten Versuche, einen öffentlichen Dialog mit den anderen Bündnissen zu initiieren, haben diese weder Interesse noch Bereitschaft gezeigt, sich auf ein solches Gespräch einzulassen. Ich hoffe, dass die Fragen, die Sie gestellt haben, von jedem von ihnen beantwortet werden.

Es gibt in der Tat weit verbreitete Sorgen und Ängste in Bezug auf all die von Ihnen angesprochenen Themen. Der Tourismus ist zweifellos die wichtigste Einnahmequelle für unsere Insel. Die Art und Weise, wie er betrieben wird, schadet jedoch der Umwelt, dem besonderen Charakter der Insel, der Lebensqualität ihrer Bewohner und letztlich auch der ihrer Besucher und verändert und zerstört das, was sie kennen und lieben.

Der Grund dafür ist, dass der Tourismus und damit die Wirtschaft der Insel allmählich von großen Geschäftsinteressen beherrscht wird, denen die Insel selbst egal ist. Für sie ist Paros nichts weiter als ein Produkt, das auf jede erdenkliche Art und Weise ausgebeutet werden muss, ohne Rücksicht auf seinen mittel- oder langfristigen Wertverlust. Das haben wir schon an vielen anderen Orten in Griechenland und auf der ganzen Welt gesehen: "Investoren" stürzen sich auf die Insel, wo sie überschüssige Gewinne wittern, und verschwinden dann, um ihr Geschäft zur nächsten Gelegenheit zu verlagern und die Orte, an denen sie vorbeikommen, verwüstet zurückzulassen. Aber wir, die wir unsere Heimat nicht verlassen können und wollen, was werden wir tun? Werden wir uns zurücklehnen und zusehen, wie sich das Verbrechen vor unseren Augen entfaltet? Oder werden wir etwas dagegen tun? Bei den Wahlen am 8. Oktober haben wir die einmalige Gelegenheit, die Kontrolle über unsere Heimat zu übernehmen und - gemeinsam, Gemeinde und Bürger - unser Gebiet zurückzuerobern.

Als lokale Behörde werden wir ein anderes Entwicklungsmodell für den Tourismus und die Wirtschaft der Insel im Allgemeinen planen, organisieren und fördern, im Gegensatz zu der Logik des "Wir gehen dahin, wo es geht". Kurz und gut:

  • Wir werden uns mit allen an der Wirtschaft der Insel Beteiligten beraten, einschließlich kollektiver Einrichtungen, Gemeinschaften und Fachleuten, um zu ermitteln, wie ein ausgewogenes Entwicklungsmodell für die Insel aussehen könnte. Zunächst einmal möchte ich darauf hinweisen, dass wir nicht zwischen dem, was unsere Insel den Besuchern zu bieten hat, und dem, was sie den Einheimischen zu bieten hat, trennen. In der Tat muss alles, was Sie erwähnt haben, für uns alle entwickelt werden und von uns allen genossen werden. Nach unserer Logik entwickeln wir unser kulturelles Erbe nicht, um es als "Souvenir" zu verkaufen. Wir schaffen Räume und Möglichkeiten, damit es gedeihen kann, wir lassen es gedeihen und geben es an neue Generationen weiter, wir geben alten und jungen Künstlern die Möglichkeit, sich auszudrücken und kreativ zu sein, usw., und das wiederum, da können Sie sicher sein, wird von den Besuchern geschätzt und geliebt.

Offene und lebendige Kulturzentren, die als Bezugspunkte für das kulturelle Leben der Insel fungieren können, indem sie Hunderte von großen und kleinen Aktivitäten planen, organisieren und durchführen. Die Gemeinde ihrerseits kann und sollte nicht nur die bestehenden Strukturen nutzen, sondern auch nach neuen Strukturen suchen.
  • Die Gemeinde kann und sollte auch eine engere Verbindung zwischen den Schulen und den Museen unserer Insel, den archäologischen Stätten, den Bibliotheken, den Orten, an denen heute noch Volkskunst produziert wird, und unseren Mitbürgern, die ihr dienen, herstellen. Damit die Kinder von Paros, die nächsten Generationen unserer Insel, die Geschichte ihres Ortes, seine Traditionen, seine Künste kennenlernen und sich auf kreative Weise mit ihnen auseinandersetzen können. Die Liebe zum Buch, den Wissensdurst und die Bildung wiederzuentdecken.
  • Es ist wichtig, dass die Stadtverwaltung eine Rolle als Hilfe, Bezugspunkt und Verbindung zwischen der künstlerischen und literarischen Gemeinschaft und den Bürgern spielt. Die Förderung und Unterstützung der Kultur auf unserer Insel kann nicht ohne die zahlreichen Talente in den Bereichen Literatur und Kunst erreicht werden, die unter uns leben, die wir aber nur selten kennen oder mit denen wir uns auseinandersetzen. Die Kultur ist das Ergebnis der Kulturschaffenden. Daher gehen Kultur und ihre Menschen Hand in Hand. Lassen Sie uns danach streben, eine Kultur zu schaffen, die für alle und überall zugänglich ist!

Unser Programm umfasst:

  • Der Schutz und die Förderung der alten Steinbrüche. Die Schaffung eines archäologischen Parks in dem Gebiet mit der Nutzung der Industriegebäude von Marathi.
  • Der Schutz und die weitere Förderung des Umweltparks in Agios Ioannis Detis.
  • Die Förderung und Entwicklung des Parikia Agrokipio als Grünfläche, Erholungsgebiet und Erlebnispark.
  • Die Einrichtung von Kulturrouten in jedem Dorf unserer Insel, so dass die zeitlose Kulturroute jedes Dorfes auf Dauer hervorgehoben wird.
  • Unterstützung von Initiativen zur Förderung der Kultur und Geschichte unserer Insel, wie z.B. die Routen in Marpissa, das Paros Festival und andere.
  • Weiterer Ausbau der Wanderwege auf unserer Insel und deren Förderung.

3 Braucht Paros Rettung?
Wenn ja, vor was muss es gerettet werden?

Unsere Insel befindet sich derzeit an einem entscheidenden Scheideweg, und die bevorstehenden Wahlen am 8. Oktober werden ihren künftigen Weg maßgeblich beeinflussen.

Wir können es uns nicht leisten, noch mehr Zeit zu verlieren und müssen jetzt handeln, denn wenn wir noch fünf Jahre warten, könnte es zu spät sein. Die derzeitige Entwicklung des Tourismus auf der Insel, die negativen Auswirkungen großer wirtschaftlicher Interessen auf unsere Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft, die sinkende Lebensqualität für Einwohner, Arbeitnehmer und Besucher, die Verringerung der Freiflächen und die veraltete Infrastruktur und Dienstleistungen - all diese Probleme müssen sofort angegangen werden und dürfen nicht mit Wunschdenken behandelt werden.

Bei den bevorstehenden Wahlen konkurrieren drei kommunale Zusammenschlüsse um das Ruder in unserem Ort. Im Wesentlichen gibt es jedoch zwei Wege - die Optionen für die Menschen in Paria - die bevorzugt werden. Entweder wir machen weiter wie bisher, entweder mit Herrn Kovaios oder mit Herrn Bizas, und versuchen zu retten, was zu retten ist.

Alternativ dazu können wir das Ruder unseres Ortes selbst in die Hand nehmen und mit der "Volksversammlung" (Laïki Syspirosi) einen Kurswechsel vornehmen. Wenn wir es nicht schaffen, unsere Insel und unser Land zu retten, wer wird es dann tun? Deshalb rufen wir alle Parianer, unabhängig von ihrer Herkunft, dazu auf, eine Gemeindeverwaltung zu fordern und aufzubauen, die für die Bedürfnisse der Vielen und nicht für die Interessen der Wenigen arbeitet, plant und handelt.

Wir rufen alle auf, die unsere Überzeugung teilen, dass Paros ungenutzte Potenziale hat, sich uns anzuschließen und für das Leben zu kämpfen, das wir verdienen. Wir müssen vergangene Schwierigkeiten, politische Überzeugungen, familiäre Bindungen oder persönliche Sympathien und Freundschaften überwinden und uns für das größere Wohl unseres Landes und seiner Zukunft entscheiden.

Nach dem Urnengang werden wir mit dem Ergebnis unserer Wahl leben müssen. Die Zukunft unserer Insel steht auf dem Spiel, also lassen Sie uns die beste Wahl treffen!
